Having left Trinity College Kandy I commenced my Planting Career in Hatton District in 1971.
At that time DMCC was playing Cricket in the Daily News Cricket Tournament and Rugby in the SLRFU A Division Rugby Tournament. I represented DMCC at cricket under the captaincy of Bede JohnPillai, and Rugby under the captaincy of Malin Gunatilake. My Rugby career first started at DMCC, having left planting after nationalisation of estates I represented CH & FC, Kandy SC & Havelocks. I went onto represent the National Rugby team from 1974 till 1980 the year I captained the team.
My baptism in the big league at Rugby was at DMCC, after a hard game of Rugby it was followed with a grand Rugby social at the club house.
