HAROON MUSAFER

I received my entire education at the prestigious Royal Collage, Colombo 07 and would consider myself fortunate to be enrolled in this establishment with a tradition of over 150 years. During my school career, I represented the Cricket Teams of U-11, 13(Captain), 16(All island Champions) and 01st Eleven Teams of 1978, 1979 and 1980 (V. Captain). I also had the privilege of playing the Centenary Royal Thomian Big Match. I also had good fortune of representing Sri Lanka Under -19 schools against the visiting Pakistan Team where we emerged Champions. As for my Rugby career, I played for the Under-15, 17 and 01st Fifteen Teams and thus was awarded Double Colours for my outstanding sporting achievements and as well being appointed as a Senior Prefect.
Having joined the Gymkhana club soon after leaving school, I represented their Cricket (CCC) and Rugby Teams with much success. I had the privilege of playing cricket under Michael Tissera (Sri Lanka Captain of Repute) and to this day which I cherish. As for Rugby, I represented the club (CH & FC) from 1980-1987 captaining 1986 and emerging R. Premadasa Trophy Champions. Incidentally in 1982, CH & FC won the coveted League Trophy (Clifford Cup) after 25 years during the late Mr. Y. C. Chang’s coaching tenure. I also had the privilege of representing Sri Lanka Rugby team from 1982-1987 with distinction.

After leaving school, I was offered a job at M/S Bartleet & Company as a Trainee Tea Taster/Broker which I continued at this establishment for nearly 25 years. Having resigned from my post as General Manager, I did a stint in both Malaysia and Dubai as a Tea Consultant. Having returned home, I joined M/s Lanka Commodity Brokers Ltd as a Senior Tea Consultant/ Broker which I continue to this date.
